The Friends of Ilsington School are a local charity who work with Ilsington CE primary school, to help understand the needs and wants of the staff and children in order to enhance their educational experience. They are always busy working on and running fundraising events, as well as providing lots of fun activities and equipment for the children.
In June 2020, the charity reached out to Simpkins Edwards and put forward their proposed request for donations towards the purchase of a maths resource called ‘Maths – No Problem!’. They highlighted that with the use of this resource, they hoped to inspire the young pupils within the school and produce the next generation of mathematicians and accountants. The resource itself has a mission to improve the standard of maths education by providing world-class textbooks, teaching resources and professional development based on teaching developed all the way in Singapore.
As number people, Simpkins Edwards were on board and as a local firm our Bovey Tracey office decided to generously donate £250 towards the purchase of the programme.
Recently, The Friends of Ilsington School got in touch to update us on their progress. With the help of numerous donations from various accounting firms in the area, they were able to reach their £2000 donation target and purchased the resource for the school.
Islington’s headteacher Samantha McCarthy-Patmore comments, “Ilsington CE Primary would like to thank Simpkins Edwards for their kind generosity in enabling us to purchase new maths resources. It is fantastic to have access to new textbooks with current imagery and language and we are very grateful to have support from our local community”
Simpkins Edward is delighted to be involved with the raising of funds and helping children with their maths education which aligns with the commitment to accountancy education, demonstrated by our investment in apprentices.
