Following the latest national lockdown, the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has announced a one-off top up grant available for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses of up to £9,000 per property.
The grant will be based on the rateable value of the property.
The one-off top-ups will be granted to closed businesses as follows:
£4,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under
£6,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000
£9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000
Eligible businesses can apply for one grant for each non-domestic property.
To be eligible, businesses must be legally required to close and unable to operate effectively remotely.
We do not yet have any further detail on the scheme but expect the applications to be made via the Local Authority.
In addition to the top up grant, £594 million has also been made available for local authorities and the devolved administrations to support other businesses not eligible for the top up grant but are nevertheless adversely impacted by the restrictions.
As with the top up grant, we anticipate that the applications will be made via the Local Authority.
The new one-off grants come in addition to the LRSG. The LRSG was originally introduced to support businesses forced to close due to the November lockdown and subsequent tier restrictions and is worth up to £3,000.
We expect the up to date guidance to be published here when available.
You can claim this grant in addition to the one-off top-up grant. Visit your local council website to find out how to apply.
