Simpkins Edwards welcomes a new Senior Partner from 1 April 2023, as Mary Jane Campbell passes the baton to Mark Simic after four years in the role.
Mark has been at the firm for 15 years, joining the corporate tax team in 2008 before becoming a Partner in 2018. As Senior Partner, he intends to build on Simpkins Edwards’ reputation as a great firm to work with and work for, with a continued focus on developing talent internally and encouraging innovation to deliver exceptional services to clients.
This reflects Mary Jane’s legacy as Senior Partner, which has seen Simpkins Edwards investing in people and technology to strengthen communication and collaboration. She has led the transition to cloud accounting and digital working. This proved particularly timely when the Covid pandemic hit, allowing for a seamless switch to home working.
Alongside this, Mary Jane has focused on supporting staff to fulfil their potential through training, mentor and development programmes, and opportunities such as volunteering. This has resulted in accolades including Exeter College’s Outstanding Apprentice Employer Award for three years in a row. Simpkins Edwards has also been recognised for going ‘above and beyond’ in giving back to the community, most recently as a finalist for Xero Community Impact Award – a national award taking place on 19 April.
Mary Jane says: “My time as Senior Partner at Simpkins Edwards has been the icing on the cake for me. It’s been hugely fulfilling, and I’ve particularly enjoyed inspiring colleagues to communicate across offices and departments, so they can learn from each other and value the diversity of skills everyone has to offer.”
“It’s also been a real privilege to oversee the transition in the management of the partnership to our younger partners. I will enjoy working with the new management board members to help them with the complexities of the tasks ahead and I appreciate the fresh approach they have to offer Simpkins Edwards. I know the firm is in good hands with Mark and I wish him every success in the role. I am looking forward to continuing to work with him, my fellow Partners, wider team and, of course, with my fantastic clients. ”
Mark says: “On behalf of everyone at Simpkins Edwards, I’d like to thank Mary Jane for her hard work as Senior Partner. She’s has done much to invest in the future of the firm, leaving us in a strong position going forward. On a personal note, she’s been my mentor for many years for which I am very grateful – I anticipate a lot of continuity in our thinking and mindset.”
He adds: “I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to lead the firm at this exciting time. We have fantastic teams across our offices, reflecting the investment in our people and our culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation. Our digital-lead approach provides so many opportunities for us to help and support our clients. I look forward to working with my fellow partners and colleagues to ensure our continued success.”
